Taking notes

When you have decided on the most appropriate and relevant resources to include, it's time to think about getting the information that you need from them. Students can develop very different, yet effective, note-taking techniques from highlighting to summarising to mindmap diagrams. One absolutely vital thing to remember at the outset, however, is to ALWAYS write down the publication information, even if it's not properly formatted or complete. You can spend time making sure all this information is in the right order during the proofreading stage (covered in Unit 5) but make sure you at least have a partial record of where your information has come from.

The below presentation gives an overview of some different note-taking strategies you might like to try.
